UK Report Calls for NDA Ban to⁣ Combat Music Industry ⁣Misogyny

Updated June 14, 2025

A recent parliamentary report in the United Kingdom is advocating for a ban on non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) within the music industry. The aim is to address what the report calls a pervasive “culture of misogyny.”

The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) released a report earlier this month titled ‘Misogyny In Music: On Repeat.’ The report identifies NDAs and confidentiality agreements as a critically important problem. According to the committee, these agreements are frequently used to silence individuals who have experienced harassment and abuse.

A government spokesperson told the Guardian that the government‍ is considering further NDA reform. “The music industry must be free of misogyny ⁢and discrimination, and NDAs should not be misused to silence victims,” the spokesperson said.
