“Myanmar military, Aung San Suu Kyi’s sentence reduced from 4 years to 2 years”

Myanmar’s military regime in a coup d’état has reduced the sentences sentenced to state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi and President Yun Min from four years to two years.

Myanmar Army Supreme Commander Min Aung Hlaing, who leads the military government, said in a statement released on state TV that the sentences sentenced to the two men would be reduced in the form of ‘pardon’.

The military also explained that the government adviser Shaw and President Yun Min would serve a sentence under house arrest somewhere in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw.

Earlier, the military yesterday sentenced Suu Kyi and President Yun Min to four years in prison each for agitation and violating COVID-19 quarantine measures.

Immediately after the coup d’état on February 1st, the military placed Shame Torture under house arrest and charged them with more than 10 crimes.
