Myriam Cortés Fuentes is one of the leading women who stand out in the second edition of Women Who Inspire Women, summoned by Excelsior y RSVP. As Director of Innovation of Carnot Laboratories has demonstrated – through a history of two decades – that women who head management positions achieve extraordinary results.

His leadership has left his mark on the pharmaceutical sector for more than one reason: his comprehensive innovation strategies have allowed him to materialize solutions to the health problems of thousands of patients. Among his main responsibilities are determining the products that will go on the market and forming a team to achieve it, but “empathy and being able to put yourself in the shoes of doctors and patients is the key to contributing something important to the population,” says Myriam.

Women in the pharmaceutical industry

The director is convinced that the industry needs more women. Within pharmacy schools they are the majority; However, in directive, critical, managerial and research positions, the opposite is true. For this reason, she believes it is essential to instill in society that women do have a voice in scientific spaces and to promote the importance of gender equality.

His focus over the years has been based on teamwork made up of authentic people with different thoughts. He believes that to achieve solid growth, the first step is to enrich yourself with new ideas. Given the challenges that arise in the industry, such as access to medicine and technology in some sectors of the population, their interest is focused on the discovery of new alternatives and solutions to respond to health needs.
