BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty couldn’t resist mocking her co-host Charlie Stayt just minutes into Friday’s show. The 49-year-old presenter playfully teased the 62-year-old radio host during a segment discussing a recent fly infestation in Wales.

The conversation began with correspondent Hywell Griffiths explaining that residents of a village in south Wales were being swarmed by a strange swarm of flies. Charlie added that people living in the area were struggling to open their windows or have lunch in comfort due to the bugs.

However, it was a photo of a dead fly being swept away with a broom that caught Charlie’s attention, and he was visibly disgusted. Naga couldn’t resist teasing him, saying “Did that bother you?” Charlie laughed out loud, replying “Isn’t that right? Oh, my.”

Last week, Naga revealed that she was labelled an ‘idiot’ by producers after making a potentially life-threatening mistake. The BBC Breakfast presenter had forgotten to re-order an essential EpiPen needed for her oral birch syndrome, a condition that can cause severe allergic reactions.

According to official NHS guidance, autoinjectors like EpiPens are essential for the immediate response to severe allergic reactions triggered by a range of allergens, including insect bites or stings, foods, medications or exercise.

Naga’s guest, Palina, who has a severe nut allergy, emphasized the importance of carrying an EpiPen, saying “Because in most places, that initial adrenaline rush before an ambulance arrives can be lifesaving.”

Naga agreed, sharing her own struggles to obtain an EpiPen despite her severe allergies. She said it took her four months to get one, and that trying to get hold of an EpiPen was “quite difficult,” especially if you haven’t had an allergy for a while.
