Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is said to have promoted the landlord of her apartment when she took office in the Interior Ministry, reports “Bild”. According to this, the SPD politician has lived in Berlin since 2022 in an apartment owned by Martin von Simson (SPD), the head of the central department of her ministry. According to the report, under Faeser, von Simson received a salary increase from EUR 3,505 to EUR 12,435.
In addition, the apartment was remodeled before Faeser moved in to meet the increased security standards for the interior minister. Due to her position, Faeser is considered a protected person. Overall, the conversion of windows and doors cost at least 50,000 euros. A spokesman for the ministry told the newspaper: “The structural improvement measures must be reversed after the protection person has been classified as a risk.”
