According to NanoCo CEO and co-founder Gavriel Cohen, the system allows human workers to deploy digital colleagues with custom avatars, specific roles, distinct memory contexts, and individual permissions that operate natively within Slack channels and shared Canvases.

Deploying Persistent AI Agent Teams From a Single Slack Prompt

The NanoClaw Slack integration simplifies the deployment process compared to traditional Slack bots, which previously required navigating administrative interfaces, creating applications, and manually gathering API tokens and secrets. According to Slack’s Marketplace listing, users connect a workspace once using a streamlined authorization flow, after which NanoClaw provisions each additional agent as an independent Slack bot running on the customer’s infrastructure via Socket Mode.

In the next 12 to 18 months, everyone on a team will be a manager of agents, Cohen told VentureBeat in an exclusive interview, adding that the setup marks a first for native multi-agent identities inside the messaging platform.

Infrastructure Control and Cross-Platform Continuity

Organizations retain complete control over the underlying runtime, hosting NanoClaw locally or on a private virtual machine where agent memory and data reside. According to NanoCo, the software does not store Slack tokens on external servers, and standard Slack administrative policies govern app approvals and individual agent revocations through the application’s Home tab.

Furthermore, agents built through NanoClaw are not restricted to Slack. According to company documentation, the same persistent agent can operate across Telegram, WhatsApp, and Slack while maintaining separate session histories tied to a shared workspace context and memory.

Expanding AI Integrations on the Slack Platform

The release coincides with broader updates to Salesforce’s Slack platform, which introduced streamlined OAuth and manifest configuration tools to support external AI agents from providers such as Vercel, Lovable, LangChain, and n8n. While Slack already hosts single-purpose assistants from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Salesforce’s own Agentforce, NanoClaw distinguishes itself by allowing a primary agent to spawn, coordinate, and assign tasks to other independently addressable teammate bots entirely from within an active conversation.
