National Assembly elections; Two people were arrested for vote trading

KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of two people who bought illegal votes for the services of three candidates in the National Assembly elections. The ministry said the detention was in accordance with the directives of the Chief Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khalid Al Ahmed Assabah. Cash was also seized from those arrested.

The election is on the 6th of this month. With the deadline for withdrawal of papers over, 207 candidates, including 15 women, are in the fray. Officials informed that all the arrangements have been made for the smooth completion of the elections. Around 50 journalists from different countries of the world will come to Kuwait to cover the election and evaluate the democratic process.

Officials said they will visit the polling stations and headquarters to assess the election directly.
