Foreign news agencies report that Belgium has announced an increase in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) budget for 2024. The military budget is set to rise by 12%, reaching approximately 2,030 million euros (about 77,613.04 million baht), while the budget for civil operations is expected to be around 438.1 million euros (about 16,749.89 million baht), representing an 18.2% increase.

This move aims to enhance the capabilities of all 30 member countries in effectively addressing external challenges together.

NATO’s military budget will cover operations for the organization’s two centers in Brussels, including its headquarters and numerous branch command centers across various countries. On the other hand, the budget allocated for civilians will encompass operating expenses and the welfare of both domestic and international personnel.
