Ex-Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson compared the recently held in Vilnius NATO summit with the NATO summit that took place in Bucharest 15 years ago. He spoke about this in an interview with the Daily Mail.

“This week, NATO leaders must demonstrate their collective respect and gratitude for Ukraine’s heroic resistance in a fight in which not a single NATO soldier was wounded or killed, because we in NATO know – and constantly say – that Ukrainians are fighting for all of us.” – said the former head of the British government.

According to him, the disappointment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is easy to understand.

“When will the Allies ‘agree’? When will the conditions ‘be met’? According to the Bucharest Conclusions, the Allies agreed on all this 15 years ago! When will we learn the lesson of the last 20 years of dealing with Putin? It is our uncertainty, our hares and pushed him to invade,” he stressed.

That is why, Johnson added, the Alliance needs to come up with a clear timetable for Ukraine’s accession to NATO as soon as possible – and, he adds, the UK is working hard behind the scenes to achieve this goal.
