Navarre Socialists: Resignation Over Partner’s Company Link
Navarro Socialist Party Rocked by Resignation
Ramón Alzórriz, the second-in-command of the Navarro Socialist Party (PSN), has resigned from all his positions. The move follows a loss of confidence from regional president and party leader María Chivite.
The resignation was prompted after it was revealed that Alzórriz’s partner worked at Servinabar, a company at the center of a corruption investigation. News also surfaced that Santos Cerdán held a 45% stake in Servinabar, a fact he reportedly did not disclose in his declaration of assets.
Alzórriz, formerly a parliamentary spokesperson for the PSN, confirmed that his partner was employed at Servinabar between 2021 and 2024. He admitted that he had not informed Chivite of this connection, leading to the “loss of confidence.” While stepping down as Deputy Secretary General and spokesperson, Alzórriz will remain a member of the parliament of Navarra.
in his statement,Alzórriz said he was unaware of Cerdán’s involvement with Servinabar and that his partner’s job there offered “better conditions” than her previous “precarious work.”
Separately, the regional government under María Chivite is facing scrutiny over public works contracts awarded between 2019 and 2023.A report by the Chamber of Comptos, Navarra’s equivalent of a court of accounts, highlighted several irregularities.
The oversight agency found that while the Regional law of Contracts mandates the publication of tenders, modifications, and awards on the Portal of Contracting of Navarra (PCN), “all mandatory facts is not published.” The Chamber also warned that the lack of controls “generates a risk in the integrity of the information published.”
What’s next
The resignation of Ramón Alzórriz and the ongoing scrutiny of public works contracts are expected to bring significant changes within the Navarro Socialist Party and perhaps impact the political landscape of the region.
