Nebraska Rifle Defeats Ohio State, Qualifies for NCAA Championships

Nebraska Rifle Team Dominates Ohio State, Advances in NCAA Championship Qualification

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Nebraska rifle team secured a decisive victory over No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday, with a score of 4,744 to 4,682, in an NCAA Qualifier match held at the Hugh W. Wylie Range. This result represents half of the criteria for qualifying for the NCAA Championships, and will be combined with the average of Nebraska’s three highest team scores from the season.

Those previous scores include 4,758 from the PRC Championships on February 7-8, 2026, 4,749 achieved at Army on October 25, 2025, and 4,747 recorded at TCU on November 1, 2025. This brings Nebraska’s qualifying score to 9495.33.

The Huskers demonstrated exceptional performance across both smallbore and air rifle disciplines, with four shooters placing in the top five overall. Carley Seabrooke led all competitors with an impressive aggregate score of 1,189. Katlyn Sullivan and Emma Rhode followed closely behind, tying for second place with scores of 1,187. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of 10-point shots each athlete achieved. Alivia Perkins rounded out Nebraska’s top performers, securing fourth place with a score of 1,180.

“I’m happy with how the team performed today,” said Head Coach Richard Clark. “Out of the gates we struggled to control the moment drifting from our fundamentals but bounced back well once we got on our feet. It was great to see Emma lead the way in air rifle firing her second 600 of the year! It was also fun watching Carley and Katlyn continue their strong performances this spring. As we get back to the range next week we will continue to build on the lessons we learned today in preparation for NCAA Championships.”

Huskers Excel in Smallbore

Nebraska dominated the smallbore competition, claiming the top four spots and achieving a team score of 2,355. Seabrooke and Sullivan took first and second place respectively, with scores of 592 and 590. Rhode secured third place with a score of 587, while Maddy Moyer finished closely behind in fourth place with a score of 586. Alivia Perkins (sixth, 585) and Camilla Johannessen (11th, 575) completed the smallbore lineup for the Big Red.

Rhode Achieves Perfect Score in Air Rifle

The Huskers continued their strong performance in the air rifle, again taking the top four positions and achieving a team score of 2,389. Emma Rhode delivered a standout performance, firing a perfect score of 600 – only the second perfect score in school history. Katlyn Sullivan and Carley Seabrooke tied for second place, both scoring 597. Alivia Perkins earned fourth place with a score of 595. Maddy Moyer (seventh, 592) and Camilla Johannessen (12th, 582) rounded out the air rifle lineup.

The NCAA Championships selection show will be broadcast live on ncaa.com on Monday, February 23, at 5 p.m. The championships themselves will be held March 13-14 in Columbus, Ohio.
