Egypt Rejects Netanyahu’s Statement
Egypt has completely rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement about its commitment to the Israeli army in the Philadelphia Axis in the Gaza Strip.
An Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement said Cairo held the Israeli government responsible for the consequences of those statements, which it described as worsening the situation and leading to further tensions in the region.
Netanyahu’s Statement
At a press conference yesterday Monday, Netanyahu refused to show any flexibility regarding Israel’s presence in the Philadelphia axis along the Egyptian border, to allow the end of the cease-fire agreement, emphasizing the need for Israel to control it and represent a He said, Hamas is the main lifeline of the movement.

Egypt’s Interest in Peace
Egypt emphasized its interest in continuing its “historic role in leading the peace process” in the region, leading to the preservation of regional peace and security.
Mediation Efforts
Over the past few months, Egypt, Qatar and the United States have been leading mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and exchange of hostages and prisoners.
Palestinian Presidency’s Response
The Palestinian Presidency responded in a statement, stressing that ”the Palestinian-Egyptian border is sovereign and we reject the presence of any Israeli forces on the Philadelphia axis or the Rafah crossing.”
Continued Operations in Gaza
On the ground, an aerial bombardment in front of the gate of al-Fakhoura school, home to displaced people in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, raised the death toll to eight, in addition to the number of injured who were transferred to Kamal Adwan Hospital.
