Nevada Launches Spanish-Language Traffic Safety Campaign
LAS VEGAS, NV – – Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Program, operating under the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, has released a Spanish-language version of its traffic safety video, “Zero Is Always Our Goal.” The move aims to broaden the campaign’s reach and ensure critical safety messaging is accessible to a wider range of Nevada residents.
The video underscores Nevada’s commitment to eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries on state roadways. The core message – that even one life lost is too many – remains consistent across both English and Spanish versions. The program recognizes the importance of reaching all communities within Nevada, and removing language barriers is a key step in achieving that goal.
“Our mission is to reach every community with clear, effective safety messaging,” said Amy Davey, division administrator of the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety. “Providing a Spanish-language version of ‘Zero Is Always Our Goal’ ensures more families can connect with this important message and join us in making Nevada’s roads safer for everyone.”
The Zero Fatalities program, established in 2017, has evolved beyond traditional public service announcements. It now operates as a traffic safety movement centered around the concept of “Don’t Kill a Dream,” highlighting the potential lost with each life taken on the roadways. In 2017, 311 Nevadans were killed, representing 311 unfulfilled dreams, according to program materials.
Recent initiatives have included campaigns focused on impaired driving and anti-speeding measures. The program has leveraged partnerships with influencers, including an NFL athlete, a Las Vegas headliner, and a NASCAR driver, to amplify its message. One video featuring these influencers reportedly achieved viral status on social media, garnering over 1 million views.
The program’s efforts have also extended into the private sector, with Zappos adopting “Don’t Kill a Dream” as an employee engagement program to emphasize the company’s commitment to the safety of its 1,500 employees.
Most recently, Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Program announced a partnership with NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain to promote safe driving behaviors. Chastain will work with state traffic officials to raise awareness about seatbelt safety, impaired driving, speeding, and distracted driving. A meet-and-greet with Chastain is scheduled at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Fan Zone on , before the South Point 400 race.
“Traffic safety is a shared responsibility not just among drivers, but for all Nevadans,” Davey stated. “Creating safer roads starts with addressing selfish and unsafe driving behaviors that are causing the preventable loss of life on our roadways.”
The Spanish-language version of “Zero Is Always Our Goal” is now available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/aj3xNAbnaak and on the Zero Fatalities website at https://zerofatalitiesnv.com/espanol/.
