Google is expanding the availability of its new AI voices, initially launched for AI Mode in Search, to standard voice search functionality. This update allows users to customize their voice search experience wiht a range of AI-generated voices.
The rollout, which began recently, introduces space-inspired names for the voices, including Cosmo, Neso, Terra, and Cassini. These options provide a departure from the previously used single female voice for voice searches conducted through the microphone icon on Pixel launchers, widgets, and the Google app’s home screen.
The new AI voices were first discovered earlier this year during an APK teardown of the Google app. Initially, the voices were named Jungle, Lime, Royal, and sapphire before being updated to their current space-themed monikers.
