Sanur is Bali‘s oldest tourism resort. The coastal hotspot has had many lives and remains one of the most popular destinations on the island.
however, as the destination has grown, the surrounding infrastructure, especially for transportation and parking, hasn’t quite kept up with increasing demand, resulting in traffic congestion issues and parking problems.
The parking tariff is currently priced at IDR 2,000 per motorcycle, which is on par with all other parking areas in sanur and tourism resorts around Bali. The new hydraulic parking lot can accommodate 600 motorcycles.
The new parking project and building is a collaboration between the Sanur Customary Village and a Jakarta-based vendor. It is serving as a pilot project in Bali; if it proves to be a viable solution to parking issues in congested areas of Bali, especially in tourism resort areas, more of these kinds of parking lots could be built.
The management agreement is in place for 10 years, and comes with a profit-sharing system, which is positioned at 30% for the Sanur Traditional Village and 70% for the vendor.
This is not the first solution to be implemented in Sanur to help keep tourists moving freely on vacation and not stuck in traffic.
Last year, Sanur Traditional village trialled a new electric shuttle bus service that has now become a permanent feature of the tourism resort.
