New single Wallows – “Bad Dream”

Everyone has a nightmare sometimes. Whether it’s one with all kinds of murderous zombies chasing you, or one in which all your teeth fall out: a bad dream is never fun to have. It is even more annoying to lie next to someone who is having such a nightmare, because what on earth can you do in such a situation? That’s exactly what Wallows’ new track is about. The American indie rock trio will release their third album in less than a month Model out, and with “Bad Dream” we now get a third single from that record.

On the previous two singles, “Your Apartment” and “Calling After Me”, it was the vocals of frontman Dylan Minnette that we heard. On “Bad Dream” guitarist Braeden Lemasters gets his moment in the spotlight and takes on the vocals. Against a soundtrack of sweet strumming and dreamy synths, he wonders if his loved one is having a bad dream, and expresses his secret fear that it has something to do with him. What if those dreams reflect the real thoughts of his lover, what if he cannot comfort that person, what if they are negative harbingers for their early relationship? Things have gone wrong before in the past, so why should things go right now? Quite a sad thought, but wrapped in a dreamy song to enjoy melancholy while staring out the window.

Model will be released on May 25. Wallows will go on tour later this year. The trio will be on October 4 at the AFAS Live in Amsterdamand the men can be found on October 7 and 8 in de Ancienne Belgique in Brussel.
