New York City to install 600 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers citywide.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on the 29th, “With $15 million in federal funding for electric vehicle charging and alternative fuel infrastructure, we plan to install 600 electric vehicle chargers, centered on low-income areas in the five boroughs,” adding, “New York City will continue its efforts to create an eco-friendly New York City as part of the ‘Greed Rides’ project.”
The upcoming Level 2 EV chargers will reportedly be capable of charging at a rate of 20 miles per hour and will have the same specifications as the Level 2 chargers currently installed near Norman Avenue and Dobbin Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. However, the specific installation locations and installation completion dates for these chargers have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, New York City also announced plans to install 32 electric vehicle charging spots using solar panels in eight New York City parks.
