League Plus – Spanish club Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that its Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, underwent successful surgery after his recent injury in training yesterday, Tuesday.

Real Madrid announced that Courtois suffered a tear in the inner meniscus of his right knee during his team’s training.

The Royal Club issued an official statement, saying: “Our player Thibaut Courtois underwent a successful surgery today due to a tear in the internal meniscus of his right knee under the supervision of Real Madrid’s medical services.”

Real Madrid added in its statement: “Courtois will begin his recovery process in the coming days.”

It is expected that Courtois will be absent from the field for a period ranging between 4 to 6 weeks, which means the end of his season with the team.

Courtois recently returned to participate in Real Madrid training, after recovering from surgery he underwent after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, before the start of the current season.
