Nexon’s Highly Anticipated Shooter RPG “First Descendant” Undergoes Final Testing Before Global Release

Nexon’s highly anticipated work “The First Descendant”, intended for the global market, is undergoing final testing before its release. Tests are planned next month to verify the technical completeness of the work and accelerate its release.

Nexon released a DevChat live broadcast of its new cross-platform game “First Descendant” on the 25th. In this day’s live broadcast, PD Beom-jun Lee and director Joo Min-seok, who supervise the development of the work, participated and introduced the testing program, new content and reflection on user feedback.

‘First Descendant’ is a shooter genre game that adds action RPG fun to a shooter game. It’s a game that boasts high-quality graphics produced with Unreal Engine 5, an attractive sci-fi fantasy worldview, and giant boss battles conducted through cooperation with other players.

Players are “successors” who fight against the invaders for the survival of humanity and can experience a spectacular story in which they grow through various missions and stories and learn the secrets of the successors.

According to the broadcast, Nexon will hold the final technical test of ‘First Descendant’ for two days from 4pm on the 25th of next month to 4pm on the 27th (Korean time). It’s been about 7 months since the crossplay open beta test held in September last year.

The test lasts only 48 hours and anyone can participate in it on the Steam gaming platform without prior request. It supports a total of 12 languages, including Korean, and supports Korean and English dubbing.

This test is the last open beta test before the official global release of “First Descendant”. The process focuses on verifying technical completeness, including client stability, server optimization, and security. The period had to be quite short to conduct intensive technical tests over the weekend. Furthermore, since the focus is on optimization and stability, console devices are excluded from the tests.

The “First Descendant” development team has amplified user expectations by introducing content improvements focused on mission gameplay. Various new content and convenience improvements have been introduced due to changes in course structure and rules. Among them, the main content “Mission” is actively reflected in past feedback and is improved so that users can feel the changes and enjoy it.

The development team presented the “Operation Recapture” instance dungeon as new final content. Recapture Operation supports both solo and cooperative play, and the difficulty can be adjusted based on the number of participants. It is also expected to become the main content of the work by providing a variety of additional difficulty options and introducing new gimmicks and trap elements.

Players can enter each dungeon through Albion terminals and field mission beacons, with the goal of reclaiming enemy-occupied bases and annihilating enemy forces. There are two difficulty levels: “Normal” and “Hard”, while “Normal” is content focused on completing missions assigned to a popular difficulty level. “Hard” serves as the final content where you can experience the fun of completing missions and earning rewards through challenging difficulty levels.

The development team has accepted the feedback shared in the latest test and improved the mission progression rules, such as preventing interactions with multiple objects from happening at the same time. It not only enables comfortable interaction with multiple objects in the process of achieving mission objectives, but also largely improves the visibility of the user interface for displaying various information such as mission tracking and status notifications.

Furthermore, for immersion in the game, the overall monster AI has been improved to improve the perfection of details such as the movement of monsters that cannot follow the player well during battle and their appearance when they hide or stand sheltered.

Additionally, in case of ammo shortages during missions, “resource droids” to provide ammo are placed in key locations such as camps, dungeons, and camps, allowing players to experience strategic ammo management and tension at the same time.

Beomjun Lee, PD of Nexon Games, said: “We intend to reflect user opinions and continue to add various content and useful features for a rich game before and after launch. We are preparing so that you can check it out in future tests , so there’s a lot of interest.” “Please give me your opinion,” he said.
