Jon Jones Eyes Francis Ngannou UFC Super Fight After Aspinall Delay
Jon Jones has expressed interest in a potential super fight against Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion. This comes amid Jones’ delay in granting interim champion tom Aspinall a title shot.
Ngannou’s coach, Nicksick, recently commented on Ngannou’s motivations, stating, “It’s not about money anymore. It’s about competition. And the best competition is in the UFC.” Nicksick emphasized that Ngannou desires fair treatment as an independant contractor and the freedom to explore opportunities, which he demonstrated by boxing and earning significant income.
Ngannou has fought in MMA only once since unifying the UFC heavyweight title in 2022, with a first-round knockout of Renan Ferreira last October.
Jones responded to Nicksick’s remarks with enthusiasm. “Now we’re talking,” Jones tweeted. “That’s a real super fight. A clash of champions, not just hype.He held the UFC belt, I’ve defended mine for over a decade. Two kings from different roads.” He added that a fight with Ngannou would add something special to his legacy, contrasting it with facing a fighter who is merely “hot right now.”
