Nick Kyrgios Withdraws from Wimbledon Due to Wrist Ligament Injury

Australian boxer Nick Kyrgios has announced his withdrawal from the highly-anticipated Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, set to begin on July 3rd. This devastating news comes as Kyrgios is still in the process of recovering from a persistent knee injury and a recent wrist ligament injury.

Kyrgios, who has undergone surgery for his knee since January, has been grappling with ongoing physical issues. Despite making valiant efforts to regain his full fitness, the 26-year-old athlete admits to not feeling 100% complete. His latest setback, a torn wrist ligament, emerged during a routine scan just a week ahead of the Mallorca game.

“I am truly sorry to announce my withdrawal from Wimbledon this year,” Kyrgios expressed on Instagram. “I have dedicated myself to making a successful comeback after the operation, longing to step onto the prestigious Wimbledon court again. However, the wrist injury, coupled with the limited amount of time for proper recovery, has made it impossible for me to compete at Wimbledon.”

This unfortunate turn of events follows Kyrgios’ breakthrough qualification for the first Grand Slam of his career in 2022. However, injuries have plagued him this season, forcing him to miss the beginning of the year and delaying his return until May. Even during his participation in the Stuttgart grass court tournament, Kyrgios succumbed to defeat against Yiping Wu, further exacerbating his wrist injury.

As fans and tennis enthusiasts eagerly await Kyrgios’ triumphant return to the court, the Australian athlete remains focused on his rehabilitation process to ensure a strong comeback in future tournaments.
