Nipah Virus | The route map of the dead child will be prepared and published; Health Minister Veena George

Kozhikode: Health Minister Veena George said that the route map of the child who died due to Nipah virus will be prepared and published. The minister said that this was done so that those who came in contact with the child could enter the isolation. Kovid was not positive, the health minister said.

The child is in the process of preparing a contact list. The minister said that the list of primary contacts has been made and efforts are underway to trace the source of the disease. Health workers at the hospital where the child was treated have been asked to go for isolation.

The results were received late on Saturday night from the Pune Institute of Virology. The health minister said all three samples of the child were found to be positive.

Police closed roads in the area where the virus was reported. The minister said no one under observation had any symptoms so far. The action plan was drawn up by a high-level meeting on Saturday night. Apart from Kozhikode, vigilance is required in Malappuram, Kannur and other districts. The minister made it clear that there was no need to worry.

The boy was admitted to the hospital four days ago with symptoms of Nipah. The onset was normal fever. The boy was rushed to the Shanthi Hospital in Omassery. He was then transferred to Kozhikode Medical College. When he was rushed to Kozhikode MIMS Hospital from the medical college, the child had a fever of 104 degrees. Later, the child experienced epilepsy and vomiting.

The unconscious child had been on a ventilator for 6 days. In the meantime, Dr. Sambil was sent to Alappuzha Virology for examination. Although the initial report suspected Nipah, the health department did not release it.

The death occurred at 4.45 am today. The body was taken to MIMS Hospital.
