North Korea has once again heightened the atmosphere to contain the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). He pointed out that the South Korean flyers and goods were the cause of the influx, and issued an emergency order to never come into contact with ‘unusual objects’ and to notify them immediately when they are found.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced on the 2nd that “the route of entry of the malicious virus (virus) has been scientifically elucidated, and timely measures are being established to heighten the overall social quarantine atmosphere.”

The news agency said, “We are setting up strict safety measures for personnel mobilized for the collection and treatment of unusual objects blown by the wind and other weather phenomena, as well as filth that has washed up on the beach and riverbanks, and are raising the demand for strict adherence to quarantine regulations.” He added.

According to the news agency, North Korea has distributed related ‘educational materials’ to emergency quarantine units at each level. Through this, various workplaces and living units are “aggressively conducting intensive propaganda,” the news agency reported.

North Korea concluded the day before that the first route of entry of Corona 19 was a ‘unconventional item’ found in Ipo-ri, Geumgang-gun, Gangwon-do, which is the border area between the two Koreas, namely, flyers and goods distributed from the South.

North Korea’s National Emergency Management Command issued an ’emergency directive’, saying, “We should further strengthen the all-people monitoring and reporting system, in which residents never come into contact with unusual objects and immediately notify them when they are discovered, and the epidemiological measures that are strictly collected and handled by emergency quarantine units.” It was also ordered

North Korea has been wary of not only COVID-19 but also monkey pox. “We are closely monitoring the outbreak and transmission of new infectious diseases, including omicron variants and monkey smallpox,” the news agency said.

“We will devise measures to prevent even the slightest space for the influx of malicious viruses from the ground, sea and airspace,” he said.
