Kochi: The Munsiff’s Court’s seizure proceedings came following failure to pay the relief money given to the person who lost his house in the floods. The official vehicle of Ernakulam Disaster Management Department Deputy Collector Usha Bindumol has been seized by the court. For the latter three, impoundment was ordered, but the impoundment could not be implemented as the vehicle could not be found. Tried to reach the office several times but to no avail. Then, when Amin arrived the other day, the vehicle was there. With this, a notice was issued and the copy officially handed over.

The action was taken on the complaint of KP Saju, a native of Kadamakudy, Koduveliparambi. In the last flood, Saju’s house broke and became deserted. Officers arrived and assessed the damage and returned but received little financial assistance. 10,000 was given as the first installment, but the disaster management department was not ready to allow more amount. Meanwhile, the order was to pay Rs. The order was passed on to the officers but to no avail. With this, Saju Munsif filed a petition in the court. If the order is not executed within the specified time, the Munsiff was instructed to inform the court.

To the court’s question about non-payment, the Deputy Collector said that there was no money and that the file had not been signed and received. Finding the answer unsatisfactory, the court ordered the confiscation of the authority’s official vehicle. The order has also been forwarded to the Collector. The vehicle should be produced as directed by the court. If further steps have already been taken by the authority, the court has the right to hold the auction in accordance with the rules.

Meanwhile, Saju, who is facing a severe financial crisis, had taken a loan of Rs. 6 lakh to make his house habitable. He is hopeful that the court order will help in the coming days. At the same time, there are people who have been ordered to pay 4 lakhs and 5 lakhs without any result. Advocate TJ Maria Neetu, who appeared for Saju, said they are also preparing to approach the court.
