WBO Orders Noakes vs. Mason for Lightweight Title Bout

sam Noakes and Abdullah mason are set to negotiate for the World Boxing Association lightweight title after it was vacated by Keyshawn Davis, the WBO announced Thursday. Davis was stripped of the lightweight title after failing to make weight for his scheduled defense against Edwin De Los Santos.
Mason, 21, currently ranked No. 2 by the WBO, recently defeated Jeremia Nakathila. His record stands at 19-0 with 17 knockouts. Noakes, 27, holds the WBO’s No. 1 ranking in the lightweight division. He is also undefeated at 17-0, with 15 KOs. His most recent victory came in May against Patrik balaz.
Top Rank Promotions promotes Mason, while Queensberry Promotions promotes Noakes. Both parties have 20 days to reach an agreement for the lightweight title fight. This boxing title fight will determine the new WBO lightweight champion.
De Los Santos declined to fight Davis after Davis weighed in at 139.3 pounds, exceeding the 135-pound limit. As the WBO’s 14th-ranked contender, De Los Santos is not eligible for the title.
