sam Noakes and Abdullah mason are set to negotiate‌ for the World Boxing Association lightweight title after ⁣it was vacated ⁢by Keyshawn Davis, the WBO announced Thursday. Davis was⁣ stripped of the lightweight title after failing to make weight for his ​scheduled defense against Edwin De Los Santos.

Mason, 21, currently ranked No. 2 ​by the WBO,‍ recently defeated Jeremia Nakathila. His record stands at 19-0 with 17 knockouts. ⁢Noakes,​ 27, holds the⁣ WBO’s No. 1 ranking in the lightweight division. He is also undefeated at 17-0, with 15 KOs. His most recent victory came in May against Patrik balaz.

Top Rank Promotions promotes Mason, while Queensberry Promotions⁢ promotes Noakes. ⁣Both parties have 20 days‌ to reach ⁢an agreement for the‍ lightweight title fight. This boxing title fight will ⁣determine the⁤ new WBO lightweight champion.

De Los Santos⁢ declined to fight Davis after Davis weighed in at 139.3 pounds, exceeding the 135-pound limit. As the WBO’s 14th-ranked contender, De Los Santos ⁤is not eligible for ⁤the title.
