North Korea emphasizes ‘principle of armed action’ … Building case for intense provocation

The North Korean Army’s General Staff revealed the contents of the armed provocation last week, revealing that it was their so-called ‘law of action’.

There is speculation that North Korea is building a justification for a high-intensity provocation such as a nuclear test.

The North Korean Army General Staff released a self-reported statement through state media that it had thoroughly responded to the ROK-US joint air exercises through military operations.

“This campaign becomes an unmistakable answer, that the more consistent the enemy’s military recklessness, the more rigorous and merciless our response will be,” he said.

In particular, he submitted that the principle and direction of action of the North Korean armed forces is to respond to the ROK-US military exercise with stronger military action.

<조선중앙TV> “The General Staff of the Korean People’s Army reiterates once again that it will respond to all kinds of enemy anti-DPRK war exercises with continuous, firm and overwhelming practical military measures.”

North Korea’s attempt to justify large-scale armed provocation with the ‘principle of armed action’ is interpreted as building a justification for high-intensity provocations such as nuclear tests to be carried out in the future.

Since the end of September, North Korea has been raising the level of provocations step by step, starting with the missile launch exercise of the tactical nuclear action unit.

Following the launch of a series of short-range ballistic missiles, at the beginning of last month, the United States launched a medium-range ballistic missile “Hwasong-12,” which was within the range of the United States, and also launched an intercontinental ballistic missile. (ICBM) this month.

For this reason, it is anticipated that North Korea will decide when to conduct a nuclear test after observing the results of the US mid-term elections as an extension of the armed provocation in stages.

However, some observers also raise the observation that North Korea’s ‘action for action’ principle is an indirect message that if there is no military action such as the use of US strategic assets on the Korean Peninsula, there will be no military action.
