North Korea Fires Back: Scathing Rebuke of U.S. Confrontational Policy Sparks Tensions
North Korea Condemns US Policy of Confrontation
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Releases Statement on Quad Summit
According to the Korean Central News Agency, a spokesperson for the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on September 24, condemning the United States’ policy of confrontation between factions.
The statement expressed grave concern over the US’ attempt to infringe upon North Korea’s sovereignty and right to development, and strongly condemned and rejected it. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Quad summit is a product of the Cold War mentality and confrontational policy of the United States, becoming a risk factor that promotes distrust and confrontation among countries in the Asia-Pacific region and causes international instability.
The US has attempted to cover up the Quad’s confrontational nature with rhetorical expressions such as “strengthening cooperation” in areas like climate change, food security, and health. However, the Quad’s justification for existence and basic theme is the establishment of a “rules-based international order“ led by the United States.
The US has portrayed the legitimate exercise of rights by sovereign states as a “threat” and has turned the Quad into a de facto international “maritime police organization” under the pretext of “freedom of navigation”. This is a clear example of how the Quad is a thorough appendage of Washington’s Indo-Pacific strategy.
America’s confrontational policy, which challenges justice and runs counter to the times, is a harmful source of the most serious threat to world peace and security. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will never tolerate any hostile acts that infringe upon the sovereign rights and security interests of the country.
The country will continue to make responsible efforts to establish a multipolar international order based on independence and justice. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the US’ policy of confrontation between factions cannot be a means to rationalize its policy of confrontation.
The signboard of “maintaining peace and stability” cannot be used to justify the US’ hostile acts against sovereign states. The international community must recognize the harm caused by the US’ confrontational policy and work towards establishing a more just and peaceful world order.
