North Korea’s Leader Takes Charge: Kim Jong-un Issues Key Directives as Flood Relief Efforts Reach Critical Milestone
Kim Jong-un Orders Special Care for Flood Victims in Pyongyang
Chairman Kim Jong-un has issued instructions to provide the utmost care for residents of flood-stricken areas who have arrived in Pyongyang, following the completion of emergency health checkups.
According to a source in Pyongyang, health checkups for residents and children from flood-stricken areas who came to Pyongyang were completed on July 26. The results showed that 46% of residents were suffering from contagious diseases such as tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, pleurisy, and hepatitis.
The Cabinet Ministry of Health initially planned to transfer all patients showing symptoms to the Third Tuberculosis Hospital in Pyongyang and other hospitals for treatment. However, Chairman Kim canceled the plan and instead ordered that residents be allowed to remain in their current accommodations and continue their daily lives by sightseeing in the city, watching TV, and reading books.
Only those identified as having highly contagious diseases or serious illnesses will be transferred to specialized hospitals for isolation and treatment. Patients with mild symptoms will be managed separately on separate floors in their current accommodations and cared for by medical staff.
Chairman Kim also requested that patients transferred to hospitals be provided with 24-hour electricity supply to watch TV while receiving treatment, and that a variety of books be provided to ensure their comfort and mental well-being.
The response from flood victims has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the benefits and consideration they receive every day. The leader’s directive, prioritizing the health and psychological stability of flood victims, has made a significant impact on their well-being.
Workers in related sectors are taking direct action to ensure that the benefits mentioned by Chairman Kim are guaranteed without a hitch. The efforts to provide special care for flood victims in Pyongyang demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by the disaster.
