A criminal lawyer in Lucca, Italy, has successfully obtained a court order forcing a local bank to release his share of an inheritance after the institution failed to process the payment despite receiving all required documentation.
Claudio Palazzoni initiated legal proceedings against Banco Bpm following the death of his father in February 2025. According to reporting by La Nazione, Palazzoni had submitted the necessary paperwork to the bank to facilitate the liquidation of the hereditary quota.
Despite multiple requests and reminders from the lawyer, the bank did not dispose of the funds owed to him.
The legal dispute resulted in an immediately executable payment injunction. The court ordered Banco Bpm to make the immediate payment of the inheritance, in addition to covering legal expenses and interest for the delay.
Palazzoni described the circumstances surrounding the bank’s failure to pay as absurd, noting that the legal action was a necessity caused by the institution’s inefficiency.
“The entire matter… Is grotesque, not so much because of a glaring inefficiency shown by a financial operator who is abstractly more than qualified, nor because I was forced to take legal action against a bank, but rather because of the depressing necessity of having to mentally revisit the underlying issue related, precisely, to the death of a father.”
Claudio Palazzoni
The ruling ensures the immediate transfer of the assets and compensates the claimant for the costs associated with the judicial process.
