Updated May 26, 2025
Norway’s NRK has expanded its athletics portfolio, securing rights to the Diamond league through 2029. The agreement ensures Norwegian viewers can follow elite athletics, including the Bislett Games in Oslo, set for June 12.

Infront, the Diamond league’s global media rights distributor since 2019, brokered the deal. The agency also handles post-production and streaming services for the competition.
The Diamond League events are already underway, with three meets completed. The Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme de Rabat in Morocco is scheduled for May 25.
The popularity of Norwegian athletes like Karsten Warholm, a 400-meter hurdles world record holder and Olympic champion, and Jacob Ingebritsen, the reigning Olympic 5000-meter champion, is expected to drive viewership. Warholm has already secured victories in two Diamond League events this season. Ingebritsen is slated to compete at the london athletics Meet on July 19.
NRK’s acquisition follows a similar move by Sweden’s SVT,reflecting a broader surge in athletics interest across the Nordic region. This interest was evident in 2024 when Warholm and Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis competed in an exhibition 100-meter sprint, streamed globally on Red Bull TV and sponsored by Puma.
Håvard bentdal Ingvaldsen (men’s 400-meter dash) and Marie-Therese Obst (women’s javelin) are other Norwegian athletes likely to draw significant attention.
the Diamond League rights complement NRK’s existing athletics coverage, which includes the Olympic Games (2028 and 2032), World Athletics Championships (through 2029), World Athletics’ Continental Tour and Indoor Tour (through 2029), the 2026 European Athletics Championships, and domestic athletics tournaments through 2028.
What’s next
With the Diamond League secured, NRK aims to provide complete coverage of elite athletics, capitalizing on the growing popularity of the sport and its star athletes to engage a wider audience.
