NTT DoCoMo’s ‘d Hits’ Music Service Strikes a New Chord with Price Hike and Enhanced Video Features

NTT DoCoMo’s ‘d Hits’ Music Service Strikes a New Chord with Price Hike and Enhanced Video Features

September 26, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

On the 25th, NTT Docomo announced a price revision for its smartphone flat-rate music streaming service “d Hits powered by Recochoku.” The 500 yen plan will be increased to 690 yen per month. The price increase is scheduled to start on December 1, 2024. The price of the low-priced 300 yen plan will not be revised.

In conjunction with the price increase, the name of the course will be changed from “d Hits (500 yen)” to “d Hits.”

Two new features will also be added to the course. The first is “recommended playlists,” scheduled for late November. When a user selects a song from “my hits” in their individual library, the recommendation engine will select similar or related songs and automatically generate a recommended playlist.

The other is “Music Video Playlist.” This function was created in response to users’ requests to “enjoy music through video,” and provides playlists of music videos by artist, genre, decade, etc. The function is scheduled to be implemented on December 1st.

In addition, the “Thank you for your patronage ★ my Hits present campaign” will be held from October 1st. A total of 100,000 d points (limited to a certain period and use) will be shared among users of the 500 yen plan. For details, please refer to the campaign website.
