Nuriho went through ups and downs… Transfer back to the launch pad tomorrow

[앵커]

The Korean space launch vehicle Nuri will be transferred to the launch pad again tomorrow.

If the preparations are completed safely, it will take off into space next Tuesday.

Reporter Paeng Jae-yong summarized the twists and turns of Nuri, who stood on the launch pad again after two delays.

The first D-DAY of the second launch of the Nuri was last Wednesday.

But the weather took hold of it.

On the 14th, when it was planned to move the Nuri to the launch pad, the instantaneous maximum wind speed blew up to 15 m/s, and rain fell sporadically.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute postponed all schedules by one day, judging that it would be difficult to fix the Nuri to the 48-meter-tall tower.

“Because I decided that proceeding more safely could increase the probability of success…”

The second launch date is scheduled for the 16th. This time, the launch pad was successfully completed, raising expectations.

However, the variable occurred in an unexpected place.

An abnormality has been detected in the level sensor of the first stage oxidizer tank. Errors like this can be fatal during launch, where all figures must be accurate.

Hanguyeon tried to solve the problem while standing, but failed, and moved the Nuri to the assembly building again.

“It was very difficult for us to approach the projectile while standing and to confirm it, so it was decided that it was impossible to proceed with the preparation for launch in the current state.”

Although concerns grew as the launch schedule was delayed twice, the researchers quickly found the problem and succeeded in replacing only the problematic parts without complicated procedures.

After maintenance, the Nuri will leave the assembly building at 7:20 am tomorrow and start preparing for launch, including standing work. And if it goes as planned, we’re heading to space on Tuesday.

After many twists and turns, Nuriho stands on the launch pad again. Expectations are growing whether it will be able to take off successfully on the third scheduled launch date.
