NVIDIA Introduces NvTrueHDR Module for Upscaling SDR Games to HDR

Earlier we shared NVIDIA RTX Video (related reports) which can upscale any SDR video to HDR. Recently, NVIDIA is preparing to introduce another new method and study the upscaling of SDR games to HDR. Recently someone has made a similar module called “NvTrueHDR”.

emoose has released the module “NvTrueHDR – RTX HDR for games” on Mods Nexus. The principle behind it is similar to NVIDIA RTX Video. Both use Tensor GPU RTX to improve the picture performance of SDR games, such as its color, brightness and contrast.

According to the foreign media “Video Cardz”, the author of the emmose module was quoted as saying that NvTrueHDR can be used for all DirectX9, 10, 11 and 12 games, and should support OpenGL and Vulkan games, but more data feedback is needed.

Users who have tested NvTrueHDR reported that NvTrueHDR looks better than Windows AutoHDR and even similar to native HDR. Let’s take a look at the comparison below. The picture above shows HDR turned on, and the picture below shows SDR:

emoose said that NvTrueHDR currently only supports Windows, and the version is not lower than 551.23. In addition, NvTrueHDR is still in the testing stage, and users should be careful when using it.
