Oakley is entering the smart glasses market with the Oakley Meta HSTN AI glasses, set to launch this summer. The new glasses provide a sporty choice to Ray-Ban’s Meta glasses,offering similar features within the Oakley brand.
The initial Oakley Meta glasses model,”Desert 24K Prizm Polar,” will be available July 11 for $499. Additional colors are expected later in the summer for $399.
Functionally, the Oakley Meta glasses mirror the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, incorporating identical specifications but with Oakley’s distinct design and branding. Key features include IPX4 water resistance, a 12MP camera, and a battery life of up to eight hours, extendable by 48 hours with the charging case.The glasses also have open-ear speakers, a microphone, a touchpad, and a physical camera shutter button. Video recording is improved, offering 3K resolution compared to the Ray-Ban’s 1080p.
The glasses also integrate AI capabilities, enabling users to identify objects, set timers, send texts, place calls, and extract information from signs. They also connect to Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
