OB Beer announced on the 5th that it will start producing beer with eco-friendly solar energy from the first half of next year by installing solar power generation facilities in domestic plants such as Gwangju and Cheongju plants, starting with the Icheon plant in Gyeonggi Province.
OB Brewery held a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Renewable Energy 100 (Renewable Energy 100, 100% renewable energy replacement) self-consumption solar power generation joint project’ at the Icheon plant the day before.
OB Brewery will install solar power generation facilities with an annual capacity of about 12GWh at its three production plants. All of this power is used for beer production.
OB Brewery said, “If we generate electricity with solar energy, we can reduce 5,621 tons of carbon per year.”
OB Brewery plans to supply 100% of its electricity use with renewable energy by 2025.
