Dodgers’ Comeback falls Short in Extra Innings Loss to Mets

LOS ANGELES — A late-inning surge wasn’t enough as the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the New York Mets 4-3 in 10 innings Monday night. Shohei Ohtani’s solo home run in the seventh inning initially provided all the dodgers’ offense.
Facing Mets closer Edwin Díaz, who hadn’t allowed a run in his previous 13 appearances, the Dodgers mounted a comeback in the ninth.Tommy Edman singled and stole second, followed by Hyeseong kim’s infield single, putting runners on the corners.Ohtani’s sacrifice fly scored Edman, tying the game.
However,Tanner Scott surrendered two runs in the top of the 10th. Andy Pages singled in a run in the bottom of the inning,but Edman grounded out with runners on the corners to end the game,sealing the Dodgers’ loss.
What’s next
The Dodgers will look to rebound in the second game of the series against the Mets, seeking a stronger performance from their pitching and more consistent offense throughout the game.
