Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ star, is set to pitch against the San Diego Padres, marking his first major league appearance on the mound in nearly two years. The Dodgers announced that Ohtani, the reigning National League MVP, would start the series opener at Dodger Stadium.

Ohtani,who signed a $700 million contract,underwent elbow surgery on Sept. 19, 2023, after tearing his UCL for the second time. he resumed bullpen sessions in march after focusing on hitting.
