Ohtani’s Historic Pursuit: 60-60 in Sight as He Swipes Another Base, Extending Streak to 5 Games
Shohei Ohtani Continues to Make History in the MLB

Shohei Ohtani, the 31-year-old LA Dodgers player, has been making waves in the baseball world since his major league debut. Recently, he achieved a historic feat by hitting 6 hits (3 home runs) in 6 at-bats, driving in 10 RBIs, and stealing 2 bases in an away game against Miami.
Ohtani’s impressive performance has opened the door to the first 50 home runs-50 stolen bases club in major league history. He successfully stole two bases early in the game to reach 50, and then hit three home runs in the middle of the game to achieve the unprecedented feat of 50-50. This achievement is all the more remarkable considering that only five players had achieved 40-40 before Ohtani.
Despite the unlikeliness of achieving 60-60, Ohtani continues to push forward. On the 22nd, he appeared as the starting designated hitter in the home game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA, and added one more stolen base. Ohtani is extending his streak to 50-50 or better, hitting a home run or a stolen base in five consecutive games.
Ohtani’s stats are impressive, with a season batting average of 0.297 and a season OPS (on-base percentage + slugging percentage) of 1.014. He continues to fight hard, recording one hit, one walk, one hit by pitch, and a stolen base in three at-bats.
The Dodgers’ batting order was Shohei Ohtani (DH) - Mookie Betts (R) – Freddie Freeman (1B) – Teoscar Hernandez (L) - Tommy Edman (C) – Max Muncy (3B) – Gavin Lux (2B) – Miguel Rojas (SS) – Hunter Peducia (C). Walker Buehler was the starter.
However, the game did not go as planned. Buehler was shaken from the beginning of the first inning, allowing a double to Charlie Blackmon and a walk to Ezequiel Tovar. The Dodgers trailed 0-3 in the second inning, and despite Ohtani’s efforts, they were unable to catch up.
Ohtani came up as the leadoff hitter in the ninth inning with the team down 3-6 and hit a center-field single before stealing second base with his foot, recording his 53rd stolen base of the season.
The Dodgers were pushed in the mid-game power struggle, and despite Ohtani’s efforts, they were unable to turn the game around. The game ended with the Dodgers trailing 3-6.
Ohtani’s performance has been impressive, but the Dodgers’ struggles continue. The gap between the Dodgers and San Diego is three games, and with the number of games remaining, it is not a small gap. The National League West champion is expected to be decided in the upcoming series.
