The amateur Bayeux team, playing in Régional 1, were quickly overwhelmed by Roberto de Zerbi’s players, who notably left Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the squad.
Marseille opened the scoring in the 12th minute after a nice play started by Mason Greenwood, who sent Amir Murillo deep. The Panamanian served a pass back to the English player Angel Gomes, launching the Marseillais attack. In a packed Stade Michel d’Ornano, Marseille took advantage of the space left by the Bayeux players.
