Earlier, a Wayanad native, a restaurant employee in Dubai, had come forward with a claim of Rs 12 crore. The claim of the Wayanad native was later rejected as the idea was confusing.

Jayapalan said he would first try to pay off his debts with the prize money. Jayapalan also said that resolving his property issues would be an important consideration.
The first prize is TE 645465. The first prize of the Onam bumper is Rs 12 crore. The first prize for the Onam bumper from 2019 will be the largest in the history of the state lottery department. Out of Rs 12 crore, 10% agency commission and 30 per cent income tax will be deducted and the first prize winner will get around Rs 7.56 crore.

The special feature of this year’s Onam bumper is that the lottery department has printed as many tickets as possible. Over 54 lakh printed tickets have been sold. Last year, 44 lakh tickets were sold.
