OnePlus officially launched its annual digital flagship, the OnePlus 16, on October 12, 2026, in China, bringing high-end hardware specifications to the market with a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon anode Glacier battery, a 200MP camera system, and an 185Hz refresh rate display, PhoneArena reported.
OnePlus 16 Debuts in China with Massive Battery and 185Hz Refresh Rate
The newly unveiled smartphone features a 6.78-inch custom BOE X4 LTPO AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels, a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, and a refresh rate reaching up to 185Hz, according to specs and reporting covered by PhoneArena and Gizmochina. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor paired with Android 17 and ColorOS 17.0, along with internal storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB UFS 4.1, and LPDDR5X Ultra memory configurations of 12GB and 16GB.
Imaging capabilities on the OnePlus 16 include a 200MP primary rear-facing camera using a 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HPE sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 50MP telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture offering 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless zoom. The front-facing camera features a 50MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity specs cover Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, supported by an IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance rating alongside a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port.
Pricing Tiers and Market Availability Across Channels
BigGo Finance reported that the entry-level 12GB+256GB variant of the OnePlus 16 carries an official suggested retail price of 5,999 yuan (approximately $898), with a first-sale promotional price of 5,699 yuan running through November 13 across channels like OPPO’s online store, JD.com, Tmall, Pinduoduo, and Douyin. Gizmochina detailed additional pricing tiers for the Chinese market, noting that the 12GB+512GB model retails for 6,799 yuan ($1,016), the 16GB+512GB configuration costs 7,499 yuan ($1,120), and the top-tier 16GB+1TB version is priced at 8,499 yuan ($1,270).

Buyers in China can take advantage of the country’s 2026 digital product purchase subsidy policy for items under 6,000 yuan, which grants a 15% subsidy capped at 500 yuan per item, bringing the starting post-subsidy price down to 5,199 yuan, according to BigGo Finance. BigGo Finance also noted that the OnePlus 15 served as the final flagship released in Europe and North America following the brand’s market exit in July 2026, meaning the OnePlus 16 will remain concentrated in the Chinese domestic market without an announced launch for those overseas regions.
Gaming Optimizations and Previous Generation Comparisons
Gizmochina reported that the device integrates dedicated hardware including a P4 display chip, a G3 eSports chip, and a T3 touch chip alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor to enhance mobile gaming performance. The P4 display chip enables 185 FPS gameplay, with native 185Hz support active in six titles and planned expansions for 17 additional games, while the system also introduces a global 165Hz refresh rate capability.

BigGo Finance reported that the 9,000mAh battery represents a substantial capacity increase over the 7,300mAh cell found in the predecessor OnePlus 15. The device supports 100W SuperVOOC wired charging—reaching 80% charge in 37 minutes—alongside 50W wireless charging, 27W wired reverse charging, and bypass charging to minimize heat generation during gaming sessions, while the manufacturer promises the battery will retain at least 80% health capacity for five years.
Upcoming International Releases and Regional Rollout Schedules
The Sunday Guardian reported that an upcoming variant designated as the OnePlus 16R is tipped for a rumoured launch in India scheduled for December 2026 or January 2027, with expected pricing ranging between Rs 70,000 and Rs 75,000. That regional variant is rumored to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K flat OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, a 16MP front camera, and a 9,000mAh battery supporting 100W wired fast charging, though OnePlus has not yet officially confirmed these specifications.
