According to a study by Playtech, a global platform provider in the online gaming industry, many Colombian players feel that online betting houses do not care about their well-being.

The ‘Responsible Gaming: Consumer Perspectives and Trends in Latin America’ report indicates that Colombia is a driving force in the Latin American online gaming industry. Colombians rank third in the region for ⁣gaming frequency, with 67% betting at least once a week. peru leads with 75%,followed by Brazil ⁤at 73%,argentina at ⁤64%,and chile at 53%.

Industry figures show that this sector moves approximately 2.1 trillion pesos. In 2024 alone, it contributed over⁤ 990.592 million pesos to the health system, establishing itself as a major source of funding for social welfare ‍public policies,⁣ according to ⁢Fecoljuegos.

Despite these advancements, only 14% of surveyed Colombians feel well-informed about the ‍online betting industry,⁢ ranking them last in this category. Chile and Brazil reached⁤ 15%,Argentina 16%,and Peru 17%.

A ⁢significant 71% of Colombians believe that online betting houses do not care about player welfare,⁣ the highest percentage among the countries evaluated, followed by Argentina (67%), Chile (62%), and Peru (59%).

Interestingly, Colombians are more lenient regarding stricter controls, with 86% wanting⁢ stricter age verification measures in online betting houses, compared to 88% in Argentina and 89% in Peru, chile, and ‍Brazil.

Industry Perspectives⁢ on Responsible Gaming

There are 15 licensed operators in Colombia who must pay royalties equivalent to 15% of gross income minus prizes paid for each type ‍of game.
