Shining spotlight on DGIST, a leading science and technology institute. Established in Daegu in 2004, the institute aims to stimulate the local economy and requires all students to engage in research projects. The education provided at DGIST is of unmatched quality, allowing students to experience real-world practical learning in the community. DGIST offers undergraduate courses through its College of Transdisciplinary Studies. In the first academic year, students study the program “Basic Science and Engineering,” which provides a foundation in science and engineering. From the second year onwards, the institute offers additional course plans and also allows students to design their own courses.

The curriculum at DGIST includes compulsory subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science, and Introduction to AI. Students also have the option to choose from advanced subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Life Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science Engineering Science, and Chemical Engineering. Additionally, DGIST offers courses in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Entrepreneurship, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

Research opportunities at DGIST include the Undergraduate Research Program (URP) and the Undergraduate Group Research Program (UGRP), allowing students to actively engage in research projects.

In terms of fees, DGIST charges 3,500,000 Korean won per semester (approximately 94,500 baht). Please note that the currency rate as of July 16, 2023, is 1 won = 0.027 baht.

Now, let’s talk about the scholarships available for international students. DGIST offers various scholarships based on different criteria and qualifications. The International Student Scholarship provides a monthly subsidy of 330,000 won (about 8,910 baht) for students who study at least 10 credits per term. The Academic Excellence Scholarship, available to current students, requires a GPA higher than 3.7 (out of 4.3) in the first academic year and a grade higher than 4.0 (out of 4.3) in the following academic years. Students also need to take more than 15 credits in the previous semester. This scholarship provides a subsidy of 1,500,000 won per term (around 40,500 baht). Furthermore, DGIST offers full tuition scholarships for all international students, covering up to 8 semesters, with 3,500,000 won per semester (about 94,500 baht). Additionally, a monthly subsidy of 328,500 won (about 8,869 baht) is granted to students who register for more than 10 credits per semester, along with a settlement subsidy of 500,000 won (about 13,500 baht) for all international students.

If you’re considering applying for the Fall 2024 semester, here is the admission timetable: Online applications and document upload will be open from December 6, 2023, to January 10, 2024. The document examinations will take place on March 6, 2024, followed by the interview examinations from March 13 to 29, 2024. The announcement of received and registered results will be made on May 7, 2024, via the website www.dgist.ac.kr/iadm/. The Fall 2024 semester is set to begin at the end of August.

To be eligible for admission, Thai nationals are welcome to apply. Applicants and their parents must have graduated from high school or equivalent, with standardized test scores such as SAT 1, AP, IB, A Level GCE, ACT, etc.

To apply for a course at DGIST, visit the website www.studyinkorea.go.kr (membership required) and select DGIST’s College of Transdisciplinary Studies. Complete your personal information, upload all supporting documents (by January 10, 2024), and click “Submit.” You can track your application status on the “My Page” section of the website.

Required application documents include the High School Diploma, High School Transcript, official standard test scores (SAT 1, AP, IB, GCE A Level, ACT, etc.), passport copies of the applicants and their parents, and birth certificates with results of language proficiency tests (such as TOEFL, IELTS, TEPS, and TOEIC). Additionally, applicants can attach any achievements or awards received, a letter of recommendation from an advisor, and a full protocol of 2024.

Please note that the university will determine scholarship eligibility based on application materials and requirements, eliminating the need for a separate scholarship application. All documents should be translated into English or Korean and certified by the Korean Consulate. The university may request additional documents if necessary.
