Opposition Criticizes State and Devaswom Board for Failing to Control Sabarimala Crowd, Calls for Court Intervention

Thiruvananthapuram / New Delhi: Opposition leader VDSathisan has voiced strong criticism against the state government and the Devaswom Board for their failure to establish an effective system for managing the crowd of devotees at Sabarimala. According to Sathisan, the authorities have been unable to ensure darshan for the devotees, with no accountability being taken for the situation at Sabarimala. He expressed hope that the matter will now be addressed by the court.

The UDF committee has reached a stalemate as the influx of devotees continues to rise. MLA Radhakrishnan led a team that arrived from Thiruvanjoor, highlighting the inadequate presence of police at Sabarimala. Moreover, concerns have been raised about the authorities resorting to expedient measures to downplay the crowd situation at Sabarimala in court.

Meanwhile, UDF MPs, who brought up the Sabarimala issue in the Lok Sabha, staged a protest outside Parliament. NK Premachandran called for immediate intervention from the National Disaster Management Authority, while Antony MP emphasized the insufficient police presence at Sabarimala, pointing out that the policemen were accompanying Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his team for the New Kerala congregation.

However, the Prime Minister faced harsh criticism from MPs over allegations related to the Sabarimala issue. It was highlighted that a campaign is underway to downplay the severity of the Sabarimala issue, with protests outside the Senedd being cited as part of the Congress agenda. The Prime Minister was accused of attempting to incite panic among national pilgrims.
