OHSU Health Stabilizes Leadership with Permanent CEO Appointment
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Health has named Peter Ness as its permanent Chief Executive Officer, effective August 28, 2024. This appointment brings an end too a period of leadership instability at the Portland-based academic health system. Ness had been serving as interim CEO since december 2024.
Prior to assuming the interim role, Mr. Ness succeeded ann madden Rice as interim CEO. Ms. Rice held the position for only five weeks before stepping down.
The previous permanent CEO, John Hunter, MD, stepped down in June 2024 amid discussions regarding a potential merger with Legacy Health. The merger talks ultimately collapsed in July 2024.
Recent Executive Changes at OHSU Health
the appointment of Ness follows two recent additions to OHSU Health’s executive team. Shereef elnaal,MD was named President,and Angela Glass was appointed Executive Vice president and Chief People Officer. These appointments signal OHSU Health’s commitment to strengthening its leadership structure.
