Oregon Man Kills 79-Year-Old Mother, Believing She was a Vampire

A 56-year-old man in Oregon, USA, told police he killed his 79-year-old mother because he thought she was a vampire and would bite him at night.

At approximately 9:30 pm on March 12, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Robert Bruce Poe stating that he had “accidentally killed his mother.” Lincoln County Police officers rushed to the man’s residence, where they found Poe covered in blood, and the body of his 79-year-old mother was found in a nearby car. When the police checked, they found a large wooden stake, suspected to be a broken gardening tool, piercing the deceased’s neck. However, according to the medical examiner’s subsequent autopsy report, the deceased’s cause of death was “blunt force trauma to the head.”

Poe told deputies he believed his mother was a vampire who would bite him at night, causing him to wake up to find blood on the sheets and that he would kill in self-defense, officials said. According to foreign media “Dailymail”, Poe has been charged and arrested for a number of crimes since 1986, including possession of amphetamines, theft, drunk driving, harassment and driving without insurance.

Poe has been detained by local police and is facing charges of second degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
