Oregon State snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, overcoming a late deficit to beat Florida State 5-4 in Game 1 of the corvallis Super Regional. The Beavers’ dramatic comeback, fueled by clutch hitting and resilience, leaves them one win away from the Men’s College World Series.
Florida State, powered by ten strikeouts from their pitchers, carried a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. However,Oregon State initiated their rally when Wilson Weber doubled to left-center after a misplay in the outfield.
With two outs,Oregon State turned to pinch-hitters Bryce Hubbard and Dallas Macias. Hubbard walked, and Macias followed with a single to right, loading the bases. Jacob Krieg then stepped up and delivered a clutch single to left, driving in Hubbard and Macias to tie the game at 4-4, completing the stunning ninth-inning comeback.
In the tenth, Aiva Arquette doubled, and Gavin Turley’s ground ball advanced Arquette to third. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, AJ Singer lifted a fly ball over the center fielder’s head, scoring Turley and securing the Oregon State Super Regional victory.
