Academy Chief Executive bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor jointly stated that the partnership aligns with the organization’s international focus. They emphasized that the move will expand access to the Academy’s work to the largest possible worldwide audience, positioning YouTube as “the future home of the Oscars and our year-round Academy programming.”
YouTube Chief Executive Neal Mohan echoed this sentiment, describing the Oscars as “one of our essential cultural institutions.” He highlighted the partnership’s potential to introduce the ceremony to new audiences while preserving the awards’ historical significance.
Beyond the Main Ceremony
