Police respond to Unruly Youth Celebrations Across Finland

Finnish police were busy Saturday night responding to decision-making celebrations and school closing weekend gatherings that spiraled out of control across the country. The youth celebrations, intended to mark milestones, were marred by instances of public intoxication, fighting, and the dangerous use of fireworks.
In Helsinki’s Kaivopuisto Park, authorities estimated between 100 and 3,000 young people gathered. The evening saw fights break out, fireworks launched into the crowd, and beer cans thrown at police. Eventually, police cleared the park.
Oulu Celebration Leads to Arrests
The Oulu Police Department reported that celebrations in Kiikeli, Oulu, involving hundreds of young people, also escalated. Several fights broke out, leading to arrests. Some individuals were even placed in restraints due to violent behavior. Police used social media to ask parents to bring thier children home, deeming the event unsafe.
