Pakistan Cricket Board Reverses Decision to Appoint Salman Butt as Adviser Amid Controversy

Pakistan Cricket Board Reverses Decision to Appoint Salman Butt as Adviser

Islamabad: In a surprising turn of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board has rescinded its decision to appoint former cricketer Salman Butt as an adviser to the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, Wahab Riaz, within just one day of the initial announcement. The reversal came after the PCB faced internal criticism over the appointment.

In 2010, Butt was suspended following allegations of involvement in betting on the Test against England at Lord’s. His potential involvement in the team has drawn sharp criticism. At a special press conference held on Saturday, Chief Selector Wahab Riaz announced that Butt’s name would be withdrawn from the consultation panel.

Last day, former players Kamran Akmal, Iftikhar Anjum, and Salman Butt were appointed as advisory members. Their first task was to assist with the upcoming five-match Twenty20 series against New Zealand in January. However, the 39-year-old Butt has been removed from this role.
